Program Description
Live the Osa, LLC in partnership with Southern New Hampshire University is offering a 10-day, summer professional development workshop in Costa Rica. This trip is a unique opportunity for world language teachers to live in Costa Rica, reflect on cultural differences, attend local schools, see the natural beauty of the Osa Peninsula, and share ideas with colleagues.
Live the Osa is more than just a program. This is an opportunity to become part of this rural Costa Rican community, to live and work with the locals, as well as collaborate with US colleagues. This program is based on strong, trustworthy connections within this welcoming community. The experience will inherently change your perspective on life and give you new ideas for your classroom.
CI (Comprehensible Input) is key to ADI (Acquisition Driven Instruction) and on this trip, teachers will participate in six, 1-2 hour workshops to discuss and share about CI/ADI (and other related acronyms), as well as give you some tools for your CI/ADI toolkit. You will also be given the opportunity to practice the learned techniques in an English classroom in Costa Rican schools.
Workshops may include activities such as One Word Image, Star of the Day, MovieTalk, using Class Readers, Games/Brain Breaks, using Music for acquisition, and more.
Whether you are an experienced CI teacher or learning about CI for the first time, you will come home with new teaching tools.
